Technical Assistance on Ryukoku Museum Special Spring Exhibition “Shin Buddhism and Prince Shōtoku”

2023.04.06

DARC is using part of the space on the second floor of the museum to stage an AR exhibit of a shari youki (container for bones of Buddha) and a virtual experience wearing costumes of dancers and musicians with tablets. This is the first time this has been attempted in a permanent exhibition.

This staging is part of the versatile exhibition method used in the 2021 research exhibition “Creating a digital archive of cultural property: Aiming to revive the Buddhist culture of the Ōtani exhibitions and Nishi Hongwanji” (December 3, 4, and 18, 2021), refined for a permanent exhibition. DARC is also helping to create a video of the Shōtoku Taishi eden at Honshōji.
